What Grade 1 practice covers
First graders build fluency with addition and subtraction within 20, start reading clocks and counting coins, and get their first weekly spelling lists. That’s a lot of new ground, so rotate topics through the week instead of doing everything every day.
Choosing the right settings
- Addition and subtraction: begin with numbers to 10, then move to 20. The subtraction maker always puts the bigger number first, so there are no negative answers.
- Telling time: start the clock worksheets on o’clock times and add half past once those are easy.
- Money: use the easy level of the counting money sheets, with Philippine peso or US dollar coins. Counting real coins alongside the sheet helps.
- Spelling: type this week’s list into the spelling practice maker for missing-letter, scrambled-word and word-search practice from the same words.
A week that works
Try math on Monday and Wednesday, spelling on Tuesday and Thursday, and a game on Friday. Ten minutes is enough. If a sheet comes back with more than a few mistakes, make the next one easier: confidence comes first at this age.
