What Grade 4 practice covers

By fourth grade, times tables should be automatic, because multi-digit multiplication and long division depend on them. Practice at this level is about keeping the facts fast and applying them to bigger numbers.

Choosing the right settings

  • Find the gaps first. A mixed sheet of tables 1 to 12 from the multiplication maker shows which facts still need work. Then make a sheet on only those tables.
  • Larger factors: raise the factor range beyond 12 for multi-digit practice, using the stacked layout.
  • Long division: the division maker has a long-division layout. Answers are always whole numbers, so children can focus on the method.

Keeping facts sharp

Two or three minutes a day is enough to maintain fluency. A round of the Times Table Quiz or Math Flashcards before homework works well as a warm-up.
